These are some character idea's from my first "drawing for animators" class..... you had do make random scribbles and see what characters you can make out of them....i got ripped apart in critique for inconsistent line width...and some perspective mistakes so i have a few more things to add to the improvement list.....

Back at it.




Dont have much to say yet have a bunch of assignments that are still in the works since its only the first week back.... but i have taken the opportunity to get a head start on my push pull model which hasnt even been assigned yet....ive spent 6 days so far dabbling with the typology and i think im gettin there....probably going to start the body next week. heres what my screen is looking like these days.

Sit Stand FINAL


Well here it is....the final rendered sit stand animation. As far as looking back on things, i dont believe ive ever been so on schedule with an assignment so far in CA. I didnt feel rushed as much as i usually do and in result i think i am much more content with the animation itself. When it comes to nit picking it as a whole i think the hands could have been planted on the chair better, also theres a point where he is waiting for the stripper to do her thing and the face is kinda dead and his expression just stays dormant for a second or two.....ideally i would have had a kinda confused expression on his face that would have expressed his reaction to the stripper taking the prosthetic leg off (who is obviously off screen) and i think that would be a smooth way of telling the audience that something odd is happening off screen. My smoke lights were almost a success except the smoke goes down and smoke rises....sooo yeaa.....and also the smoke doesnt start moving until about 2-3 second in. Sound was another story in itself. I had some quality actors help me out in the sound room who were a great help.

Im usually against putting up assignments that are supposed to be identical to an actual inanimate object because its not exactly the most sufficient showcase of anyone's creativity, but since this is the last one that i'll be doing i figured id post it. Didnt have the time or energy to put a creative worn down texture or interesting lighting, but it got the job done and i learned alot from the experience of building this piece of shit robot. The speculars are a bit of an issue because the environment map i used was a city landscape so as it turns around in the movie file you'll see alot of obnoxious vertical lines that shine as it rotates. This is my walk cycle that was due a few days ago...i would show the other side that has the overlap of the tie thats around his head but i dont think its polished enough and didnt want it to take away from the walk itself. is this the real life......is this just fantasy........


I've pretty much concluded the blend shape process of my rigging....which in english means ive made all the potential expressions that i want this model to have and with the help of a control bar i can slide through different expressions.....mix and match....put some partially on....ect....ect.....and with that you animate the face.....here are some goofy faces i came up with real quick while i was playin around with them.....some of this stuff....such as making your model emote some kind of feelings through expression can at times be the most gratifying part of animating...atleast for me..

....this would also make a pretty intense Bohemian Rhapsody video (incase no one got the reference to the title of the post...errderrhh)

...and this is just a taste of what my screen looks like this time of semester....

JOEEYYY.........model is almost done














I'm still texturing but this is what i have so far. I have a video file attached below so you can see a full turn around. One thing im expecially not done with is the tie which i think needs a better pattern that still fits with the personality that i want this character to have. With all that said im in the middle of blend shapes and rigging aswell to prepare for a few animation excercises so it will be a busy week. WACTH TURN AROUND.
